»Slow Club« opens on 27th September
If you’re aware of what’s been going on in the city of Essen for the past few month and years you might have noticed that there are three guys, namely Dplay, Langenberg and last but not least Manuel Tur who have been causing quite a stir in the scene of house music, mixing things up not only nationally with a bunch of releases on labels like Drumpoet Community or Compost Records. So it’s merely been a matter of time until those three were about to launch their very own club night. The day is coming closer now and at the end of september we’ll be able to enjoy those guys not only solely at one of their numerous gigs in and around Germany but altogether in their own hometown at one single spot. The so called »Goethebunker« which has already been home to several electronic clubnights should serve as the perfect venue, providing a kind ambient and the perfect underground feel for the deep-disposed crowd. So calendar the 27th for some good ol’ deep house disco tech dub and don’t miss this great event.

Last weekend i went to visit this great festival again, taking place in the Westfalenpark of the city of Dortmund, where this year’s very successful Loveparade was held. Due to organizational trouble (LP was only two weeks ago) Juicy Beats promoters even had to cancel and re-book various acts. Nevertheless the line-up was as good and versatile as it has ever been. Which means you had the chance to choose between 14 floors, each one adressing a different style, from hip hop over dancehall, funk and jazz to eletronic and techno. That is the actually the idea behind Juicy Beats, covering a good range of music, bringing loads of different people together and represent the quality and versatility of contemporary music.
It’s been a while since my last entry but i thought this news would definitely be worth a post. As reported in there most recent newsletter, New Zealand’s finest Funk/Reggae/Soul group are dropping a new album in July. I’ve already been a big fan of their studio debut
… and right after picking up two buddies from the central station it was about to get ready for the night. So, dinner at Cologne’s most famous Schnitzel shop “Oma Kleinmann” where we had the probably most bulky piece of meat in our lives. Then, we went to hang out at several bars in Zülpicher Street to make ourselves drunk with some Bombay Tonic. At about midnight we went to

Yes, and if you live near any of the participating cities, you should definitely mark this in your calendar. After Coke’s last Dj Culture Tour that covered some of the scene’s greatest hip hop-artists they are now performing a house-only tour in april of this year. And despite the rather lush budget that Coke will provide it seems there’s not only a money generating purpose behind that thing. Cos’ regarding the masses that this brand could reach they bring some of the scene’s most unfamiliar acts to our country: Theo Parrish, Robert Owens, Omar S. and Quarion. Wicked! So, spread the word, these are the dates:
